  • February 21, 2017 – Deadline to submit/edit Paper/Poster/Video Abstracts
  • April 21, 2017 – Abstract main author notified (acceptance/rejection)
  • July 27, 2017 – Deadline to register
  • June 30, 2017 – Deadline to submit final Video

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Free Papers, Posters, Video Please develop your abstract off-line before accessing the online submission form. Use the spell checking and word count features of your word processor to check the text of the abstract before submitting it. It is the responsibility of each individual to proofread his or her own work. All abstracts will be published as submitted to the Congress.


  • The title cannot exceed 150 Characters
  • Do not write your title in quotation marks
  • Do not use ALL CAPS.
  • Use the same language as the presentation language (Spanish, English or Portuguese)


  • The Abstract must not exceed 1650 characters (approximately 250 words).
  • Do not use double quotes “example” Use single quotes instead ‘example’
  • Do not include images, tables or graphs
  • Use the same language as the presentation language
  • Do not include references, bibliographical notes, or your contact information in the abstract text.
  • Review your use of language.

Presentation Type


  • Oral Presentation in the language of your abstract
  • Max time 7 minutes


  • Dimentions: 120 cm wide X 90 cm tall.


  • Videos may be not more than 5 minutes long
  • Videos may be submitted in the following formats: MPEG, AVI, WMV or QuickTime (MOV) with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720
  • Do not use DivX compression
  • Submitted videos must be in final version
  • Videos should have a 30-45 second introduction during which author disclose any financial interest
  • Videos should not promote a commercial product
  • Please make sure you have permission to use any and all content of your video

Abstract Submission Checklist

  • Decide what language it will be presented in.
  • Decide what subject your presentation would fall under

Gather the materials you need to complete the submission.

  • Your abstract – publication ready. Including a Title, Purpose, Method, Results and Conclusions.
  • The name(s) and email address of each author
  • Any Financial Disclosures you or your co-authors may have



You do not need to be an PAAO or SPO member to submit an abstract. However, if your abstract is accepted for presentation, the presenting author MUST register for the Congress by the June 30, 2017 pre-registration deadline. Submission of an abstract implies a commitment to make the presentation at the congress, therefore please make sure you understand what is required of you before submitting.

Please note: Withdrawing an abstract after acceptance may prevent you from submitting an abstract to future PAAO Congress.

All main/presenting authors will be notified via email of abstract status by the end of March 2017. Please make sure your email address is correct and up-to-date.
