Former Professor of Ophthalmology at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, former tutor of the Ophthalmology residency for the National University Federico Villarreal at the Peruvian National Eye Institute (INO).
Dr. Siverio finished his medical studies at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University. In 1967, he started his residency in Ophthalmology sponsored by the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University at the Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo Hospital in Lima, Peru. In 1974, he completed a fellowship in cornea and external eye diseases at the University of Florida in Gainesville and at the University of California Francis Proctor Foundation. Back in Lima, he organized the Cornea and External Diseases service at the Santo Toribio Hospital. He was co-founder and organizer of the Eye Bank of the Ministry of Health. He also organized the Ocular Microbiology Laboratory. He has actively participated in national congresses and Pan-American events with talks about ocular infections and clinical-pathological correlatives. Dr. Siverio co-authored the chapter “Bacterial Conjunctivitis, viral, mycotic” in Dr. Frank Polack´s book External Diseases of the Eye and the chapter “Organization of an Eye Bank” in Dr. Juan Arentsen´s book “Anterior Segment Surgery of the Eye”. He was the Deputy Director of the Peruvian National Eye Institute of the Ministry of Health. He was Director for South America of the Pan-American Association of Eye Banks from 1990 to 1995 and the President of the Peruvian Society of Ophthalmology from 2005 to 2007. The Congress of the Republic of Peru gave him the Medal of Honor in the grade of Grand Officer for his work with the poor. Presently he works in private practice.
